Multi-site Employers

Multi-site sponsor licence compliance

Many locations. One licence. One compliance position.

Sponsoro gives multi-site employers a single view of every sponsored worker across every location, so changes made locally are assessed centrally and nothing depends on a site remembering to tell head office.

Why multi-site is harder

The licence is central. The changes are not.

A sponsor licence is held by one organisation and assessed as one organisation. But in a multi-site business, almost every event that affects it happens somewhere else — a site manager moves someone between locations, a regional lead changes a rota, a new branch opens.
  • Worker transfers between sites are work location changes.
  • New locations may need adding to the licence.
  • Right to Work practice drifts apart between sites.
  • Evidence is filed locally, in different ways, on different systems.
  • Head office finds out about changes after the deadline has started.
  • A compliance visit at one site reflects on the whole licence.

The Home Office does not assess your best site. It assesses the licence, using whichever site it happens to visit.

Where problems start

The duties that catch multi-site sponsors

These are the failure patterns that show up specifically because the organisation is distributed.

Transfers reported late or not at all

A worker moving between locations is a reportable change, but the move is usually treated as an internal operational matter.

Unregistered work locations

A new branch or site where sponsored workers are based may need to be reflected on the licence within 20 working days.

Inconsistent Right to Work practice

If each site checks differently, the organisation cannot be confident it holds a statutory excuse everywhere.

Evidence that cannot be produced centrally

Records held in local drives and filing cabinets fail the requirement to produce them on request.

No single accountable view

The Authorising Officer relies on assurances from regional managers rather than on a position they can see.

Uneven readiness

Well-run sites mask weak ones, and an unannounced visit does not let you choose which site is inspected.

How Sponsoro works

Local change, central assessment.

Changes are captured wherever they happen and assessed against the same rules, so the organisation holds one compliance position rather than a different answer per location.
  • Change captured at site or from payroll
  • Assessed centrally against current rules
  • Location and salary positions re-checked
  • Reporting deadline calculated and owned
  • Action completed and confirmed
  • Evidence held centrally, retrievable per site

Who uses it

Head office and sites, one picture

Multi-site compliance fails at the handover between the site where something happened and the office that carries the duty.

Group HR and compliance teams

See every sponsored worker at every location without collecting updates from each site.

Authorising Officers

Hold an accountable, evidenced position on the licence rather than a set of assurances.

Regional and area managers

Know the compliance position for their locations, and what needs attention this week.

Site managers

Prompted when a local decision has a sponsorship consequence, without needing to learn the guidance.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Do I need to tell the Home Office about a new site?

A new branch or location is normally reportable within 20 working days, and where sponsored workers will be based there the position should be confirmed rather than assumed.

Is moving a sponsored worker between our own sites reportable?

A change of work location is normally reportable within 10 working days. Internal transfers are still changes of location, even though they involve no change of employer.

Can each site see only its own workers?

Sponsoro is designed so central teams see the whole licence position while site and regional users work with their own locations, against the same rules and the same record.

Which site would the Home Office visit?

Any of them, and possibly without notice. That is why readiness needs to be even across locations rather than concentrated where the compliance lead sits.

One licence deserves one source of truth.

Sponsoro holds every sponsored worker, every location and every piece of evidence against the licence — so your compliance position is the same wherever the Home Office looks.
